Henry Cecil has all but confirmed that 2000 Guineas hero Frankel will swerve the Epsom Derby next month which means we now have a new favourite for the big race with World Domination now the one to beat according to the latest show of betting. Cecil will be looking to keep the great Frankel down the one mile route and much of that may have something to do with the fact that he also has the exciting World Domination in his yard, he like Frankel is Khalid Abdullah owned horse and he is thought to want to keep the pair of Classic horses apart if at all possible.
With Frankel now out of the betting for the Derby, Boylesports are placing World Domination as their 4/1 favourite for the race, this is despite the fact that the horse has made just one appearance on a race course. He made is debut on track at Newbury last month and duly scored for punters and Cecil to impress the bookmakers, he has long been thought of as a Derby horse over the winter and that run seemed to confirm his potential. At this stage though punters can find plenty of value through the market with plenty of Derby trials on the horizon in the build up to Epsom at the beginning of June.
Other potential Derby contenders at this stage include the likes of Native Khan who won the Craven Stakes last month, before following it up with a third place behind Frankel in the 2000 Guineas recently. Connections are expecting Native Khan to enjoy the extra trip of the Derby and he has plenty of experience for a young horse making his current price of 14/1 with Boylesports a nice looking price at this stage of the season. The Derby is of course the blue riband Classic of the season and with Frankel now out of the running it is looking a wide open betting heat with plenty of value on offer for punters at this stage of the flat season.
