The tournament started life as the Tampa Bay Classic before changing in 2008 to become the Transitions Championship. It takes place from the 17th -20th March and it is played on the Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Florida, USA. The course is a par 71 event over 7,340 yards and has a healthy prize fund of $5.4 million.
Last year the tournament was won by US golfer Jim Furyk who is currently showing at odds of 33/1 with bookmaker Paddypower to retain his title. Also in the running are KJ Choi and Retief Goosen who have both win this event on two previous occasions.
However the current favourite to walk away with the title this is Germany’s Martin Kaymer who is after still the current number one golfer in the world. One golfer to keep an eye on here is Vijay Singh who holds the tournament record following his 2004 victory here.
